Soundings™ magazine carried a story not too long ago about a young couple who went for a sail on Chesapeake Bay. They anchored off a small uninhabited island and dinghied ashore for a picnic with their two year old daughter in their inflatable dinghy.

As they dragged the boat onto the beach, an oyster shell puntured a tube. They had no means of repairing it, they were too far to swim back to the boat, and they weren't exactly in a car with car insurance, so they were definitely in a tough fix. They spent a very unpleasant night on that island until they were rescued by a passing fisherman the next morning.
