Attachment of Dinghy Dog® covers to a hard dinghy is simple and accomplished with minimal fuss. A PVC channel is bonded to the boat at the water line with the boat empty, the open slot facing upward. The bonding surface of the boat must be completely cleaned with acetone or alcohol and perfectly dry to assure good bonding of the 3M double sided tape. If the sides of the dinghy are very curved it can be difficult to keep the track tight to the side of the boat. In this case we recommend adding stainless steel screws (provided) to hold the ends in place. Once cured (24 hrs. minimum, 48-72 hrs. best) the screws can be backed out and rebedded with any good bedding compound and left in place for good.

Slip the rod on the edge of the flap into the slot. The length of this flap can be shortened by sewing a fold in it if the cover rides too high for your boat.

Four 3" cleats are provided to place inside the rail top opposite the ends of the covers. Screws are provide for these as well. Tie a figure eight knot in one end of the line provided and pass the end through the space in the center of the cleat base. Continue over the rail through the grommet in the cover end and pull snug to the boat and tie off. Cut the line and use the rest to repeat at the remaining three cleats.

When Dinghy Dogs® are new they might crease if bent, especially with a curved sided boat. After they spend some time in the sun, inflated, they will take on the shape of the boat and this crease will be minimal. It has no effect on the performance of Dinghy Dogs®.
